Large Christmas pillow I am making for our fireplace

As you can see, I'm barely started, but with all these neckties I am running over with ideas!! These are ones that represented Christmas!
The size now is about 27" x 13", however I intend to add a 4" border all around it with ruched fabric and beads in the seam. Then I will add a 2" border of fabric with beads in that seam and then bind the pillow. This will be size of a bed pillow that can be removed when the pillow top is stored away until next Christmas time.
We will use it in front of our fireplace (that we have never used. We have our flat screen t.v. in front of it placed on an antique wooden desk like box that is on 3" wooden ball legs. The top lifts up like a desk, but right now it is a t.v. stand!! The pillow will just fit in front of the t.v. against the box, and will be festive for the holidays. I hastilly took these pictures and they looked wrinkled, but it is not. I intend to embellish it heavily.

Bead RR with a group

We, in the Bead RR group have decided to not mail on the last block (which I have received now) until after the holidays. That is great in 2 ways. I will have more time to work on it, and hopefully the blocks will arrive safely with the block owner. I will take a picture of it later and post it here.

Won't be long until DECEMBER!

I can't believe that we are almost into December of this year. It has surely gone fast! I am knee deep in eBay sewing right now. Also beginning to think about Christmas gifts and intend to make one or two. We try to give the same thing to all the men in the family, (SIL & Gsons) and the ladies too get similar things. So we'll have to shop also.

I did get the hankie apron tutorial posted tonight, but may not be back to post anything more for a few days. I know you all are busy too!

Carol

This is a vintage pattern of a way to make a very pretty and dainty apron from only four hankies! I remember my mother making aprons like this for gifts. Now this was over 50 years ago!! It is still a beautiful apron.
Four hankerchiefs are needed to make each apron. My sample is made of 4 hankies all alike - each is 12" square. It could be made with different colored ones, and different sizes, whatever would be to your liking. The four hankies you choose should all be the same size.
The middle part of the apron is one complete hankie.
The sides are one hankie cut diagonally - and the flounce at the bottom is one hankie. The waist band and ties are made of the 4th hankie.
However, the flounce should be sewn on to the bottom of the main hankie first, as the side triangular piece This next picture shows how the hankie for the flounce is cut and will fit onto the bottom of the main hankie in the center. Used in this way, this hankie makes the bottom of the front of the apron and lets the points of it and the point of the triangular side become the pointed hem across the bottom of the apron. Just use the very middle of the hankie (in this one it is the middle of the large flower.
You will have 2 sides which fit perfectly onto the triangular side piece.
After the bottom flounce is sewn on, then sew the triangular pieces that were cut from one hankie when cut diagonally to the sides of the main hankie and the last side of the flounce.

Cut the 4th hankie into the waistband and the ties. The waistband is 2 1/2" finished, so cut two pieces 3" wide. Sew them together to make on long strip. Sew the waistband strip to the main hankie making the seam in the strip to be at the center of the hankie. Fold it over and stitch it down to the back side.
Cut 2 more 3" strips from that last hankie. Hem the sides. Sew these ties to the ends of the waistband. Here is a picture of the back side - your apron is finished!!
